POSSIBILITY SCREAMS

RECOMMENDATIONS

Scott was recommended to us when we were looking for a guitar teacher for our daughter who loves to sing and write. Scott was such a breath of fresh air and a great fit for her as they were immediately writing songs together and having fun singing, as well as learning guitar! Our whole family enjoys the lessons with Scott and his fun and bespoke approach. Scarlett has also had many opportunities to perform with Scott at a variety of different events and we are so grateful to him for all he has done for her. Thank you Scott, you are so kind and thoughtful and much appreciated by us all

Tracey O’Sullivan, Troon, December 2023

Scott has been working with my daughter for over a year and the change in her has been unbelievable. Ryah was really self-conscious and worried about speaking in public, Scott worked with her to encourage her when learning guitar and singing. She has since performed at many of his events desperate to sing along side Scott. His love for music is second to non even building my own confidence at the same time. Any event he hosts is planned to perfection. I would never find enough words to express my gratitude for what he has done for our family.

Our son has been taking guitar lessons from Scott for a couple of years now. He is developing so well. Scott is always full of enthusiasm and his dynamic learning styles result in such engagement. Our son always looks forward to his lessons and thoroughly enjoys his time learning with Scott.

Our daughter has also been singing with Scott for over a year now. She has progressed greatly over this time and her confidence grows on a very weekly basis She absolutely loves his fun style and energy. We can’t recommend Scott highly enough!

My son has thoroughly enjoyed his guitar lessons with Scott. Scott has been patient and encouraging while making the lessons fun at the same time. Even in a few short weeks I can see my son improve and he is motivated to practise between lessons

Scott is a great tutor would have no problem recommending him for guitar lessons. He’s very knowledgeable about music and he is very patient with his students as I have seen him work with my husband Chris who is learning guitar. So if anyone is looking for a guitar teacher give him a shout!!

Having had a guitar for over thirty five years, it was one of my few regrets that I was never able to get to grips with playing it and although there had been several attempts over the years to play, it never really came together for me. During the past few years, that has changed and this is all down to the inimitable Scott Nicol. Scott to me on as a ‘mature’ student and thanks to his patience and considerable encouragement, something that I had not experienced before, I have now finally got to the position where I can now say ‘I can play the guitar’. Thanks Scott. You’ve made a ‘mature’ gent happy to be doing what I should have done years ago.

Scott has been giving my son guitar lessons for around 7 months and he absolutely loves it. It’s great to see his confidence and interest build as time passes which I can only attribute to Scott’s patience and teaching methods, and in such a relaxed informal setting. He looks forward to his lesson every week and it’s a joy to hear him practice at home whatever he has learned during the lesson. Scott is a fantastic tutor which makes such a difference as my son is quite shy.

My daughter has been going to Scott since January with the purpose of building her confidence and learning guitar and singing. The difference in her so far is unbelievable. She has gone from being shy and not wanting to take part in things to putting herself forward for a solo at her musical theatre group. Scott is brilliant at encourage her and making her believe in herself, plus allowing me to join in the singing. My daughter met Scott through work he did at her school and since then the difference in her has shown through. I would highly recommend him music is his passion and its amazing to be involved in what he is doing. Thank You!!!!!!

My son has been having guitar lessons from Scott for several months. Scott has such a passion for what he does and that shines through in his lessons. It’s amazing to hear him playing with my son and hear the fun and enjoyment from the room. George has already learned so much from Scott and it’s lovely to hear them playing together. Even if your child is quiet and shy, Scott is great at working with them and encourages them to find their own style and play the songs of the artists that they like. He makes music fun! After a bit of a rubbish couple of years for the kids it’s great to encourage them to learn an instrument and we would recommend Scott to everyone. Thanks Scott!

Scott has been teaching our son to play the guitar for some time now. Sebastian always looks forward to these lessons as Scott makes them so much fun, hence learning becomes easy! Scott always comes up with fresh learning methods every week and he is really coming on. Scott is a superb musician and Sebastian has developed so much from his lessons. We cannot recommend Scott highly enough.

My 11-year-old daughter loves her guitar lessons with Scott. He’s a total pro, friendly and reliable. As my daughter says, “He makes it fun” — what more could you ask for?

Scott is a great musician and teacher. He’s made learning to play the guitar fun and accessible for our daughter Ruby, allowing her to play songs she knows and loves, while also ensuring that she has a great grounding in the fundamentals. She’s improving all the time and we love hearing her play. We can’t recommend Scott highly enough.

Suzanne and Jamie Maxton, March 2022

Scott is a fantastic teacher to my shy 13 year old daughter! I’ve been able to sit in on the lessons and we really love the relaxed, fun way in which he teaches. My daughter loves her lessons, and leaves with enthusiasm to start practising what she’s learned. Anyone considering Scott for lessons should absolutely go for it! I also have to give credit to him for his knowledge of Taylor Swift songs which has impressed her…..something that is hard to do with teenagers!

Lianne Dougan, March 2022

It has been amazing to have followed Scott through the performing and events scene as he is great to watch, listen to and draws people in through his friendly banter and professional performances.

I have had the pleasure of being invited to sing alongside Scott when he has performed locally, but only recently have I found that he offers individual tuition in guitar, songwriting and more. I have only just started guitar lessons with Scott but feel that I really have a shot at being able to play well, something I had lost hope in as time went on being that bit older now.

Scott has opened the door of opportunity for me with support in my own song writing/singing and projects as well as the offer of participating in live performances locally. I have always wanted to perform, singing and playing guitar, but never had the skills or thought I would be good enough. Scott has reignited the fire in me to chase the dream, be confident in myself and my abilities and never give up.

Scott has a naturally friendly and positive outlook and energy which transfers to those he works with. You get a genuine feeling that he wants to help you achieve your goals and is 100% invested. I love that he works in schools delivering songwriting workshops, to groups but also supporting individuals, and songs which can be found on iTunes.

I would recommend Scott to anyone, younger or older, as he is versatile in the support and tuition he offers and is an absolute professional. He is such an inspirational person and I can’t wait to see what I can achieve with Scott there as my guide.

Shayla Belle Bletsoe, March 2022

After many years of wanting to play the guitar and failing, I asked Scott Nicol if he would give me lessons and I am happy to say that, thanks to Scott’s patience and great encouragement, I am now well on the way to being able to play after receiving tuition over the course of the last year. I’ve known Scott for about 5 years and have been greatly impressed with the work he does with children through his Possibility Screams project and his enthusiasm is what has pushed me through the learning process. His extensive knowledge of music across the decades, up to and including current songs, means that he can use this in his tuition. Being in the middle of this current lock down, we have maintained the lessons through the use of Zoom and I have continued to learn even in these strange times. I would happily recommend Scott as a guitar tutor, whatever age you are.

Colin Hyslop, St.Quivox Ayr

Scott is a wonderful builder of confidence, as well as skill, and is an immensely cheerful and patient tutor. He has worked with myself for around four years and in that time I have transformed from an awkward bedroom musician into someone who enjoys performing, which is a big change! I have also developed greatly as a songwriter due to his guidance and expertise in song arrangement. Most importantly, however, it has been a joy to get to know Scott over the years. He is full of fun, laughter and song and I consider him a good friend.

Callum Johnston, Mauchline

Scott has been teaching my 8 year daughter over Skype since the lockdown begun. He has a great rapport with her and makes learning fun with his energy and enthusiasm.

Toni Cairns, Prestwick

Scott has been working with my daughter for a year and a half now, guiding her in song writing and co-writing 4 amazing original tracks with her. She has performed at some amazing events & venues thanks to Scott and more recently has been working on guitar with him. Scott is a brilliant musical role model for any young musician looking for support and guidance, as well as being an all round great guy.

Holly, Cumnock

Scott is one of the best tutors out there. He’s calm, patient, cool as can be and has such a passion for music it’s unreal. I recommend him to anybody who’s just picked up a guitar or just wants to increase your skills as a musician Scott is the man.
Greg Dunlop, Ayr

It’s not often that I openly thank individuals who have had a positive influence on my musical career as there have been so many and I am truly grateful to them all. But I would like to personally thank Scott Nicol for encouraging me some years ago to let go of that safety net and go out on my own. Scott gave me the confidence and the opportunity to do both and thanks to him and many others I haven’t looked back. Scott is a motivator and encourager. Not only is he an accomplished musician, performer and singer songwriter, but his musical work with young people through his company Possibility Screams has ensured that the Scottish, British and International music scene continues to produce first class talent. Big thank you Scott my friend and may The Good Lord continue to bless you and all you do.

Michael McMillan, Glasgow

Thank you for your great musical talent, your skill with the guitar, and your enthusiasm to pass it on. As one of your slightly older, less dexterous and more challenging pupils, I look forward to my lessons and am really pleased with my progress. You have the patience of a Saint - if you can teach me to play and enjoy the Guitar - you can teach anybody!

David McMahon, Troon

I met Scott when I was involved in starting up a community music group for adults with disabilities which has now been successfully running for over a year. From our initial meeting he was very down to earth, friendly and straight away we spoke through ideas together as it was clear he was the best person for the job. Scott captures and engages the groups varying abilities confidently and is able to relate to every member and their support staff. He is extremely professional, reliable and efficient with his time and is forever driving the group forward by planning ahead and including their ideas.

Scott also has a vast network of contacts within his field and makes the most of this for the benefit of the group - they enjoy having guest artists visit them. Reliable, fun, friendly and most definitely a talented showman! Scott is highly thought of and has become a good friend to all of us!

Scott has been coming to teach guitar at the school for over a year now. He teaches a group of P4/P5 children. He is very patient and is very good at explaining things. The children thoroughly enjoy his lessons as he uses humour a lot to get his point across. The children recently performed in a church service for the school and were praised by everyone present. The children are keen to learn and are enthusiastic about their time with Scott. I can highly recommend Scott, his teaching methods are excellent and his knowledge of music is exceptional.

Susan Whiteman, Acting Depute Head Kingcase Primary School, Prestwick

Campbell started learning with Scott earlier this year. He has come on so well. Scott has been able to develop Campbell’s love of music and take it to the next level. Scott is great at encouraging and building confidence in Campbell as well as helping him create songs, promote them and recording them. Can’t thank him enough for agreeing to take Campbell on.

Scott is inspirational as a teacher and mentor. He is a fab role model for any young person and has great energy and patience. Would highly recommend.

Shirley Hughes, Prestwick

Scott is trustworthy, reliable, friendly and a reasonable priced guitar tutor. He knows his stuff from names of strings to writing your songs. He has a great talent and it was a joy to learn along with him. Thank you Scott.

Maria English, Kilwinning

Scott has taught two of my children aged 7 and 11 the guitar for a year and I hope will continue. He has shown a remarkable ability to relate to children and teach them to play the guitar in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. He willingly takes on their ideas and absorbs their enthusiasm and interest.

With his vast personal experience in the music business, Scott can be flexible with how he teaches the kids to play, not just rigid repetition out of books, he can take their favourite song or an idea for a song they want to write, and support them as they apply their developing knowledge and skills to play music they want to play. When he feels they are ready, he has the ability and connections to introduce them to play for the public in small venues, thereby giving them experiences and appetite for taking their music further, in a secure and friendly environment.

I would thoroughly recommend Scott Nicol to anyone, young or old, who wish to take up the guitar, as a better teacher I do not believe can be found.

Juliet Maxwell, Mauchline

Scott has been teaching my son guitar for 18 months and is doing a wonderful job. He is such a talented musician and it is clear that he loves what he does and to me that is an important quality in a tutor. He inspires and shares his knowledge and wealth of experience which is great. He is fantastic at encouraging my son to be a creative individual and by doing so has most definitely improved my son's confidence.

This resulted in my son performing for the first time in front of a very friendly audience recently at one of Possibility Screams fab local events. I would highly recommend Scott to anyone who is looking for a guitar tutor for their child.

Eleanor Crawford, Saltcoats

I’ve been taking guitar and songwriting lessons from Scott since January and since then he has become a real friend and mentor. He sees possibility in all things and is hugely encouraging and supportive of all his students and their talents. His warmth, energy and humour are infectious and I’m just so glad to have met him!

Shirley Husband, Dundonald

Scott has been teaching my daughter guitar for almost a year now and the progress she has made is unbelievable. Scott has a great teaching style and his passion and enthusiasm for music is obvious. He is very patient and ensures my daughter is making progress every week. He has excellent knowledge and skills and teaches in a fun and creative way. Scott is flexible and approachable for both pupil and parents. I thoroughly recommend Scott as a guitar teacher as he is fantastic!

 Amanda Mcpheator, Sorn

Our kids have been receiving guitar lessons for over a year. Scott is an excellent teacher, the kids really relate to him and he teaches up to date cool songs so the kids are keen to learn.

He is enthusiastic and passionate about music and that is very clear when you meet him. He has a wealth of music knowledge and experience.

Scott has encouraged our kids especially our daughter and has exposed her to performing in small public places therefore providing her with confidence and experience. If it wasn't for him I'm sure this would not have happened.

Lynn Smith, Prestwick

We are super delighted with not only the speed in which our daughter Millie is learning the guitar, but in the instant bond she has collaborated with Scott musically, his calming teaching techniques, paired with the enthusiasm and fun way he comes across, has really brought out the best in Millie, thanks again.
