CHASING DREAMS
OUT NOW
‘ Dust me down, dry my tears
Then I can climb to the top of all my fears ’
I had the privilege of writing an original song with the amazing pupils (and teachers) at Troon Primary School Ayrshire earlier on this year.
The result is the track ‘Chasing Dreams’ which is available now for download on all major platforms.
This is the second time I have worked with the school and I would like to say thanks to The Troon Primary Parent Council for making it happen.
It was wonderful to have so many of the pupil’s creative ideas and the school’s values to draw on for inspiration.
The pupils decided to call themselves
‘Fab 46’. The song is really about not giving up and I would like to thank Miss Macmillan for the idea to write about that subject.
My friend and Maestro Jamie Clark came in and recorded the song then added more instruments in the studio. I particularly love his mandolin playing on the track.
We hope you love the song, download and share it. It was a wonderful experience and hope I get to work with them again!
LYRICS
1.
If I fall down I’ll get up
If I fall down will you pick me up?
I have dreams to achieve
Will you encourage me and believe in me?
2.
I’m at school, just a kid
What will I do in this broken world
Won’t back down, turn away
Face my fears every brand new day
Chorus
I’m running on the beach, wind is in my hair
I’m chasing after dreams, I didn’t know were there
I’m feeling this emotion, deeper than an ocean
The world may try to knock me down
But it will never steal my crown
3.
If I fall, off the track
Will you pick me up and bring me back
Dust me down, dry my tears
Then I can climb to the top of all my fears
4.
I won’t quit, no matter how hard
Won’t run away or be scared of the dark
I have the key, my future I see
I will walk through the destiny of me
Chorus
I feel free, you can’t keep me under lock and key
I feel free, you can’t keep me under lock and key
I feel free and you will only see the best of me
