‘THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING ME - TO BE THE ONE TO SHARE YOUR LIFE’

Hi, my name is Marisa May and I have taken a new exciting journey across into the music industry, writing and recording my own songs!

Singing has always been a passion, if there’s an opportunity to sing you will find me there with a microphone in hand. Performing across Ayrshire has been something which I have done regularly since the age of 16, whether it be at karaoke, on stage or in a more professional setting at weddings or functions.

Writing and recording music has been an interest and life goal of mine since I was a very young girl. I remember days sitting in my room with my note pad, keyboard and microphone recording my ideas on an old cassette tape!

Fast forward to the present day, where I decided to write a song and dedicate it to my other half. How fitting… if there’s ever a time to write and perform a song for someone… it may as well be on your wedding day! The results were fantastic and I was in great company with a range of extremely talented local musicians.  

Scott Nicol helped compose my song and finalise lyrical layout. We got on like a house on fire and the song final results are just beautiful. Scott was great, his passion and creativity for song writing and performing helped inspire me to take the song to the next level of officially being released. The melody came so quickly with Scott’s amazing guitar skills leading the way, I love the chorus it is so catchy!

The vision for my song was more a piano based ballad, not quite channeling power ballad but somewhere in between. Lorraine Handling provided her wonderful piano skills to help with the backing music and made sure I was in safe hands vocally, adapting and changing the key to suit my vocal range. Once again, I was in great company with another musician who has exceptional talent.

Once we had the composition finalised and I was confident with the melody, it was time to take things further and get a final recording of the song.

Once again, Scott set up great contacts and we were in a recording studio in no time! Brian McDonald of Dramatic Studios in Ayr was where the song came to life! He has such an ear for music and again, an extremely talented musician and performer. The song was recorded in 3 takes and Brian set to work, editing and ensuring the final results were amazing. He did a wonderful job, making sure my vocals were balanced alongside just the right amount of backing vocals and music. The final results are just perfect, and were exactly what I wanted for our wedding song.

Performing the song on our wedding day, was nerve wracking and very emotional. I had said my vows and walked down the aisle, but this got me more! My husband didn’t know where to look, and there were many tears in the room.
